Worry Stones
In my experienced opinion -
For those suffering with -
Anxiety (of any kind) Why? - Having small objects that are visually pleasing and also fun to explore with your hands and touch engages the senses causing you the most grief. For example - you have health anxiety and your mind is telling you you’re having a heart attack. Instead of googling your symptoms and making it worse, you reach for your anchor. Your thoughts are now occupied on the colours and imagery. Your sweaty and shaking hands are now distracted by the textures and so on.
Depression (of any kind) Why? - When you’re so depressed you can’t even make it out of bed in the morning, it helps to have something close that reminds you life isn't all bad. (Even if it feels that way). I’ve found having colourful, vibrant and fun tools don’t magically whisk my depression away, but it makes me focus on something visually pleasing which in turn boosts serotonin. (Really!). It’s a distraction, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.
